Ichthammol with zinc oxide.
Description
Egoderm Ointment contains ichthammol 1% and zinc oxide 15% in a paraffin base. It also contains methyl hydroxybenzoate 0.1% and propyl hydroxybenzoate 0.1% as preservatives. It is lanolin- and cortisone-free.
Action
Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Anti-inflammatory, soothing and mildly antipruritic.
Indications/Uses
Tender, inflamed dermatitis or eczema, genital and oral and napkin rash. For the relief of itching and inflammation associated with the following conditions: dermatitis; eczema; tender, itchy, scratched or broken skin rashes; eruptions in the napkin area, due to various causes; anal or genital itching; minor cold sores.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 3 times daily or as required. As soap may irritate, cleanse with Pinetarsol to reduce inflammation and relieve itching. After using the ointment for 5-7 days, persistent itchy areas may need slightly stronger Egopsoryl TA. Alternate with Egoderm if skin is tender. When conditions clears, continue using successful preparation less frequently for complete recovery of underlying skin.
Contraindications
Known sensitivity to any of the ingredients.
